Swedish massage is the most prominent form of massage today. As one of the world's best-known techniques, Swedish massage is focussed on providing relaxation to the entire body. This is achieved by using long, gliding strokes following the direction of blood flow returning to the heart. 


Swedish massage is exceptional at increasing the level of oxygen within the bloodstream, increasing circulation and decreasing toxins & tension. 

Recent research suggests that Swedish massage technique provides:

   - Decreased levels of cortisol

   - Decreased arinine vasopressin (cortisol precursor)

   - Increased lymphocytes (white blood cells)


Swedish massage techniques vary and may include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching.
